'Water voor Filippijnen' at the Sustainability Event

10-15 November 2008 In the second week of November, Osiris and Students4Sustainbility organised the Sustainability Event. This exhibition, which lasted for a week, displayed all kinds of sustainability initiatives from the TU Delft, plus various activities were held, such as a debate, sustainable dating and a symposium.

We were also asked to present the drinking water project and the foundation at the exhibition, to show what you can do, as (ex) students to contribute to (social) sustainability and technology in developing countries.
Especially for the exhibition, we produced a terrific 'water-donating tank' based on an idea which had arisen during the event with The Creativity Company. The tank, which was placed on a column and had a presentation of the whole project on its sides, attracted a great deal of attention. It clearly depicts the notion that when put together, small contributions will result in sufficient drinking water for people who have no access to it. The presentation posters presentation posters that we used during the event can be viewed here.

Furthermore, we gave a speech at the Designing in Developing Countriessymposium. At the symposium Harmen told of the differences when designing in a totally different context, both from a technical, cultural and socially political point of view. During his speech, he covered aspects such as ownership, corruption and the effect of technology on the balances of power in a community.
