19 December 2008 Turn a free day into a donation; that was one of the ideas we came up with during our creative session. In November we approached the deans of the faculties of Industrial Design, Applied Physics and Civil Engineering to ask them to support this idea. Thanks to their support and the enthusiastic collaboration of the people of the various Financial and Human Resources-departments we succeeded in setting up this action for a short time.
Lots of promovendi at the TU Delft have got some free days left at the end of the year. 'Donate-a-free-day' allowed them to donate 1 or 2 free days to the drinking-water-project. After sending a flyer and an e-mail we received a lot of enthusiastic reactions.
In 5 days 175 free-days were donated!
That makes a sum-total of €25.147,50.
A tremendous thanks to everybody that helped make this action a success. First of all of course to all the PhDs that donated a free day! Lots of people contributed in various ways: from folding flyers to checking the English texts, to controlling the amount of days donated and more.
We would especially like to thank the secretary office of TNW, in particular Jacqueline Dekker;
Jos van der Boom of F&C IO, and Stijn van Boxmeer and Nathalie van Benthem of P&O CiTG, for their
enthusiastic cooperation; Adele Sanders for checking the English e-mail and Rolf Wennekes of translation
agency Vertalen.nl for the English translation of the website.
Finally we thank the deans of the three faculties, Professor Cees J.P.M. de Bont,
Professor Karel Ch.A.M. Luyben and Professor Louis de Quelerij, for supporting this action!
We are very pleased with the result – it is exceeding our expectations that we already
raised half the money before the end of 2008! Next year we will continue trying to raise the rest
of the required € 50.000,-.
